When you HATE cake but you’re trying to be nice

So you hate cake, but you’re trying to be nice and appease you’re wedding guests. First off, it’s your wedding, do what makes you happy.

“It’s my party I can [do what I want]” I took some creative liberties there…

There is nothing in the rule book that says you HAVE to have cake. In fact, there isn’t a rule book. If you want  a giant gummy bear with a bow tie, get it. If you want to stay healthy and have a fancy fruit tower, do it!

I’ve shot weddings where the venue served a special desert instead of cake (there was still a cake cutting, but they didn’t offer any of it to the guests). I’ve shot a wedding where the couple had a giant rice krispie and some cake-pops in lieu of cake.

The Knot

There’s a new trend where weddings are offering wheels of cheese dressed up like cake. — Mmmm cheese! Sign me up for those weddings. Or what about a pegboard covered in donuts? Donut mind if I do (Thank’s for sharing this one Bethany)

It might be harder to get those cute “cake in the face” shots, but I find it refreshing to offer something unique and completely you instead of staying traditional to appease people.

Always be yourself, unless you can be Princess Leia, then be Princess Leia.

Would you (or did you) have something other than cake at your wedding? I’d love to hear what it was.
